The Prince Walks down the Rambla de Girona to Buy Sweets

He also had a coffee at the bar El Sol and greeted the police and the people at Plaça del Vi

12/12/2009

The Prince of Asturias and of Girona's day began where it had ended the night before: at the Girona hotel where he had slept. The heir to the Crown left his lodgings early in the morning to take a stroll along the Rambla. At about 10.30 am he stopped at the Argenteria, where he entered La Xixonenca and purchased some sweets for his daughters, as he stated afterwards.

Before heading for the Technology Park, where the first meeting of the Foundation's Board of Trustees was to be held, Prince Felipe also went to the Plaça del Vi. Even though it was a leisurely walk, his presence aroused great expectation. Indeed, the two-metre stature of His Royal Highness does not easily go unnoticed. The first citizen to approach Felipe de Borbón was one of the municipal policeman who stand guard by the door of the Girona City Hall. The policeman, accompanied by a friend, shook the Prince's hand and exchanged a few words with him. Prince Felipe also spoke with a postman who was delivering letters along his route.
