The Prince of Girona Foundation Looks to the Future

The Foundation sets off by looking to the future with the approval of its first 7 projects

14/12/2009

On last Friday, 11 December 2009, the Girona Science and Technology Park was the scene of the first meeting of the Prince of Girona Foundation's Board of Trustees, with the attendance of H.R.H. Prince Felipe and practically all of the Foundation's Patrons. The principal mission of the Foundation is to contribute value to society through the fostering, support and promotion of youth in four specific spheres: the social entrepreneuring area, the scientific-technological area, the cultural-sports area, and the business initiative area.

The Foundation sets off by looking to the future with the approval of its first 7 projects, notably including the holding of a major Prince of Girona Foundation Forum in the city of Girona in 2010, the drafting of a White Paper on the entrepreneuring capacity in Spain, a programme of collaboration with the GERD Association to provide wheelchairs and orthopaedic material to Latin America by creating a workshop-company, and the promotion of a research project with the University of Girona and the Guttmann Institute, using a telemedicine platform to investigate the cognitive and sensory rehabilitation of persons with an intellectual disability. All these projects and more are addressed to favouring and establishing the conditions required to improve the values and capacities of our young people as an assurance of our future.

The meeting also filled the offices of Vice-President of the Foundation, appointing Gonzalo Rodés, Jaime Carvajal and Josep Lagares to these positions.
