Alba Ventura, 2010 FPdGi Arts and Literature Award

FPdGi Arts and Literature Award, for her aptitude, precociousness and sensitivity in piano interpretations

Born in Barcelona in 1978. At the age of 5 she began her study of music with Sílvia Llanas and later entered the Marshall Academy, where she studied with Carlota Garriga and received classes from Alícia de Larrocha. A precocious pianist, from a very early age she showed extraordinary talent as a performer and self-assurance in facing musical challenges. She has played in the main concert halls of Europe, such as Wigmore Hall and the Barbican in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Auckland Town Hall in New Zealand, and in the main concert halls of Spain. She has played with renowned conductors and with top-rate international orchestras such as the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Hungary, the Philharmonic Orchestra of London and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

Alba Ventura has all the qualities needed to become a great international soloist, as is recognized by the public and by international critics. She displays a fresh and agile technique, with clear fingering and beautiful sound. She is also a sensitive interpreter, with strong expressive power and a surprising musical maturity for her age.

Despite her youth, Alba Ventura combines her concert schedule with teaching, a field in which she has a keen interest as a result of her teaching experience at the Royal College of Music. She teaches at the Liceo Music Conservatory and collaborates with the renowned Brazilian pianist Luiz de Moura in the summer courses he teaches.
