Mr. Javier Rodríguez Zapatero

Javier Rodríguez Zapatero has been the executive chairman of ISDI since January 2017. Focused on international expansion and relationships with large corporations and institutions, Javier set up ISDI together with other Internet industry professionals in 2009. ISDI’s mission is to contribute to digital transformation, generating a competitive ecosystem by training digital professionals, promoting digital talent, spreading knowledge, supporting entrepreneurs and the digital transformation of companies. ISDI is the first digital native business school in Spain and is present in Madrid, Barcelona, Mexico and the USA (Silicon Valley).

For almost nine years until December 2016 Javier was Google Spain director and head of Spain, Portugal and Turkey. In this role he developed the company’s commercial services through YouTube, leveraging mobile advertising and implementing the acquisition of digital competences at both company and individual level to bring Spanish society a high degree of digital maturity. During his time at this company, Google Spain was recognised as one of the best subsidiaries of Google Europe.

Since March 2017 he has been an independent advisor at EVO Banco, where he is helping to accelerate the entity’s digitalisation and adaptation of the most innovative models.

Much of his career has been spent working on the Internet, holding different executive positions at Yahoo! Spain since May 2000, and becoming the company’s vice-president of European Sales in 2006. He has also worked in the marketing and sales areas of Johnson Wax and Procter & Gamble.

Born in Córdoba, Rodríguez Zapatero graduated in economic and business sciences with a specialisation in finance. He also has a postgraduate degree in auditing. He is a member of various associations related with information technology and has taught different MBA programmes. He has won several marketing and Internet-related awards. He is married and has two children.
