Mr. Rolf Tarrach Siegel

Rolf Tarrach (1948, Valencia) was president of the University of Luxembourg from 2005 to 2014. He obtained his PhD in Barcelona and was a postdoctoral researcher at CERN, Geneva, before becoming a professor of theoretical quantum physics. He has received awards and decorations in Spain, Russia, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg. He was vice-president of the University of Barcelona and president of CSIC (Spain). He is also a former member of EURAB, EUROHORCS, ESOF, former president of ACA (Brussels) and former vice-chair of the jury of the French ‘Initiatives d’excellence’. He chaired the EU2015 Committee of International Experts (Spain) and also sat on the EUA Council, later becoming EUA president (2015-2019).
