27/12/2010

The Financial Vice-president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Israel Ruiz (Barcelona,1971), has joined the Impulsa Forum organizing committee, which has been organizing the Prince of Girona Foundation since 2010, with the objective of promoting talent, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in young people.

The members of the Impulsa Forum organizing committee have expressed their satisfaction with this new addition, which, in the words of their chairman, Josep Lagares "represents a further step in the internationalization of the Forum and brings to the Impulsa Forum the collaboration of a first-class international institution in the field of scientific and technological promotion and entrepreneurship".

During his speech at the Impulsa Forum held on July 1, 2010, Israel Ruiz emphasized that " the MIT model can be replicated anywhere in the world, with a lot of discipline and commitment to excellence, because there are innovators and talent everywhere. It’s a question of vitalizing the ecosystem with the best tools".

As member of the Academic Council and Financial Vice-president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Israel Ruiz has worked to optimize the funding model of the entity, with an annual budget of over 2,400 million dollars (of which 1,375 million are dedicated to research) and with more than 10,000 million dollars in private resources. In 2005 he was awarded the maximum administrative recognition granted by the entity, the “MIT Excellence Award”, thereby becoming one of the most recognized and influential people of the prestigious North American academic institution.

In late June of 2011, IMPULSA will bring together in Girona for the second consecutive year an outstanding group of personalities and speakers from all over the world and hundreds of participants invited specifically to learn about, debate and promote experiences and projects of an innovative nature aimed especially at young entrepreneurs in the different fields of social, cultural, scientific and entrepreneurial activity.
