The Prince of Girona Foundation approves the 2014 Action Plan and reaffirms its commitment to young people

The Prince of Girona Foundation’s 2014 Action Plan consolidates its lines of work to foster entrepreneurial spirit, improve employability, education and academic success, and to nurture young people’s vocations and talent.

11/12/2013

The ninth Board meeting of the Prince of Girona Foundation (FPdGi) was held on 11 December 2013 at the Zarzuela Palace, and was presided over by Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias and of Girona.

The FPdGi Board of Trustees approved the 2013 annual report and the 2014 budget and action plan, which consolidates the Foundation’s four areas of work for young people:

  • Fostering entrepreneurial spirit

The FPdGi is to organise a new edition of the IMPULSA Forum, the Foundation’s benchmark project, which will be held at the end of June in Girona. It will also organise the 5th edition of the Prince of Girona Foundation Awards.

The first phase of the Educating Entrepreneurial Talent project, which involved the participation of more than 700 educational agents from all over the country, is due to be completed. The project trained these professionals to teach entrepreneurial initiative at all pre-university levels of education, with methods based on teaching the entrepreneurial skills defined in the Learn to be an Entrepreneur report produced by the FPdGi. The results of this project will be presented and shared at the second national entrepreneurial initiative workshops that the Foundation is organising in Girona. This second edition will be attended by leading international speakers in entrepreneurial education.

The consolidation of the Being an Entrepreneur is Possible platform completes this first line of action. The platform, which supports entrepreneurs through the process of defining their professional projects, is already being used not only by an important number of young people individually, but also by several organisations as part of their entrepreneurial promotion activities.

  • Improving young people’s employability

In 2014, the Mentoring Talent project, formed of executives committed to youth employment who mentor unemployed university-educated young people, is due to be fully implemented in Catalonia, Madrid, Andalusia, and the Basque Country, and will also be launched in another autonomous community.

  • Education and academic success

The FPdGi will consolidate the Pygmalion project, which fosters academic success through sport. After the pilot phase, which was launched in Girona during the 2012-13 academic year, the project is to be applied in other towns and cities, such as Sant Boi de Llobregat, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Lleida and Tarragona, where Pygmalion sports grants will be launched in collaboration with local social and educational organisations.

  • Nurturing vocations and talent

The FPdGi Board of Trustees has approved the continuation of the projects launched in 2012 and 2013, especially in the area of educational robotics and fostering mathematical and scientific vocations.

Renewal of the FPdGi governing bodies.

During this Board meeting, the Foundation began a process of renewing the membership of its governing bodies. This process allows the FPdGi’s Trustees to participate in these bodies and also ensures the continuity of its founding principles.
