Rui Miguel Dos Santos Benedito, 2014 FPdGi Scientific Research Award

FPdGi Scientific Research Award, ex aequo, for his excellent research in the field of vascular biology, which is highly relevant in many areas of healthcare such as treating cancer and cardiovascular disease, and for his leadership capacity.

Rui Miguel Dos Santos Benedito, Lisbon, 1979, holds a degree in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) and a PhD in Molecular Biomedicine from the same university. He has been a visiting researcher at the London Research Institute – Cancer Research (UK) and at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine (Germany). He is currently assistant lecturer and researcher at the National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). He has taken part in numerous international congresses and conferences on vascular biology in countries such as Germany, the United States, Austria and France.

His research has been recognised with international prizes and awards such as the Werner Risau Prize and the Peter Hans Hofschneider Prize. Benedito is also the author of a large number of articles published in important scientific journals and publications.
