Guillermo Mínguez, Princess of Girona Foundation Scientific Research Award ex aequo
Recognised for his work designing hybrid molecular sieves that allow tailored nanostructured materials to be synthesised. The jury highlighted the impact of his work on magnetic metallic organic frameworks (MOF), from his fundamental study to its application in sensors and catalysis. The new porous materials developed will have a huge impact in fields such as the environment and energy.

María Escudero Escribano, 2018 Princess of Girona Foundation Scientific Research Award ex aequo
Recognised for her work developing electrochemical catalysts based on metal nanoparticles that could replace noble metals to reduce costs and increase efficiency in processes for obtaining clean energy. The jury highlighted the scientific, technological, energy-generation and social impact of her work, which will contribute towards slowing climate change

Aeronautical engineer José Miguel Bermúdez, 2018 Princess of Girona Foundation Business Award
The winner was chosen for his business and research career which is currently focused on developing a revolutionary propulsion system for maritime transport that harnesses the wind.

Arancha Martínez, 2018 FPdGi Social Award
The winner was chosen for the social commitment she has shown in promoting the project It Will Be, a start-up NGO that works on more collaborative and caring models for the social sector and field of cooperation.

Article 1, 2018 FPdGi International Organisation Award
The jury has acknowledged the French organisation Article 1 for its great social impact and success in enhancing the employability of young people regardless of their social, economic or cultural background, and for its management and funding model.
