Guillermo Martínez Gauna-Vivas, 2020 FPdGi Social Award

Martínez, who designs and sends 3D-printed prostheses to economically disadvantaged people all over the world through his Ayúdame3D project, was chosen for ‘his inspiring work to make revolutionary 3D printing technology accessible to vulnerable people’.

Guillermo Martínez Gauna-Vivas (Madrid, 1994) graduated in Industrial Organisation Engineering from Rey Juan Carlos University. He has worked as a technological toy designer and also designs and sends 3D-printed prostheses all over the world through his Ayúdame3D project. This association combines new technologies with Guillermo’s commitment to building a better world. His goal is to open up the revolutionary world of 3D printing to economically disadvantaged people to offer them opportunities that have been out of their reach until now due to their lack of resources. Ayúdame3D provides Trésdesis 3D-printed hands and arms for underprivileged people all over the world to help improve their quality of life. Guillermo has volunteered at various organisations and chaired the Erasmus Student Network URJC association during the 2016-2017 academic year. He has also collaborated with causes such as SocialErasmus and ExchangeAbility (ESN projects designed to encourage social students to volunteer and promote the inclusion of disabled people into all areas), and was an international volunteer at the Bamba Project orphanage, which led to him starting the Ayúdame3D project.
