The winner was chosen for “democratising access to medical-scientific information on millions of patients by using artificial intelligence”.

Ignacio Hernández Medrano (Alicante, 1983) graduated in Clinical Medicine from the Miguel Hernández University in Elche and has several postgraduate qualifications in medical and clinical management, and in leadership and management of R&D and Innovation in health sciences. Ignacio is CEO-founder of Savana, an artificial intelligence platform that accelerates and expands medical research, as well as improving the quality of patient care and hospital management. Savana works by reading and analysing the data in millions (currently 180 million) of clinical cases, learning from them and generating predictive models that anticipate the best intervention for a patient by tapping into a wealth of clinical knowledge that has been buried until now.

Ignacio is also the founder of Mendelian, a platform designed to democratise the use of genomic information for diagnosis.
